As if 2020 hasn't thrown enough catastrophe at us, the 2020 hurricane season officially starts in 2 weeks (June 1st).  In true 2020 form, the first named tropical storm is already brewing.  According to CNN, tropical storm Arthur is threatening to unleash high surf, strong winds and heavy rains on the North Carolina coastline before it is expected to ultimately turn back out to the Atlantic Ocean sometime this evening.

As you may or may not know, the weather scientists and meteorologists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) compile a list of names for the expected storms every year.  The list for this year has been released (and already put to use in Arthur's case), so you can put a name to the soaking super-storms headed our way this year.

I know this sounds strange, but I am a bit disappointed that there (to my knowledge) has never been one of these storms with my name.  Among my family and friends, there has easily been a dozen correlating storm names - in fact, my grandfather's name is Arthur.  Maybe I should be thankful that hurricane "Brandon" has never been responsible for widespread damage and more.

That being said, if you have ever secretly wanted a storm to be named after you - check the list below.  These are the names lined up for the 2020 season, and yes - one is named after your grandma:

Cristobal
Dolly
Edouard
