Today is Percy Jackson’s Birthday

For those who aren't familiar with who Percy Jackson is, he's a character introduced in Rick Riordan's book Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Here's a video of some kids at Camp Half - Blood Austin Branch singing a birthday song for him.

I was introduced to the Percy Jackson franchise (if you will) through the movie that came out in 2010. A couple of months went by and I saw the book for sale at Barnes and Noble and thought hey why not. Picked it up and read it.

I describe it to people who haven't read it as "Harry Potter meets Zeus". The books are a simple read (they are for young adults after all) and are full of adventure and mythological figures from ancient Greece.
