Vanilla Ice Arrested In Residential Burglary
Well, that's one way to get your name back in the headlines.
Robert Van Winkle, professionally known as Vanilla Ice, was arrested in connection with a residential burglary in Florida, Lantana Police told TV station WTVJ.
Van Winkle, 47, faces charges of burglary and grand theft related to a burglary which occurred sometime between December 2014 and February 2015, Lantana Police said.
The "Ice, Ice Baby" rapper was released after being booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
"It's a misunderstanding, it was blown out of proportion. It's sad that good news doesn't travel this fast," Van Winkle told reporters as he exited the jail. "It's just out of proportion and I wish you guys would focus on all the good things I've done.
"It'll all get cleared up, you'll see," he added.
Police say that the burglary happened at a house that was in the process of foreclosure. Among the items taken were furniture, a pool heater and bicycles. The items later turned up at a residence under Van Winkle's care and control.
Van Winkle currently hosts "The Vanilla Ice Project" on the DIY network, which features the rapper renovating homes. The network has issued a statement which reads, "DIY Network has been made aware of this situation and is currently looking into the matter."
