Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator has announced that on-site visitations for inmates at Caddo Correctional Center has been suspended due to concerns over COVID-19, or Coronavirus.

Sheriff Prator said, in a release:

“Our concern is about keeping inmates and staff healthy and safe; our goal is to limit the opportunity for COVID-19 to enter our facility. We realize these are drastic measures but having a confined population we have to take the extra steps. We will reinstate visitation just as soon as possible.”

In addition to the changes to visitations, all non-employees will have to undergo medical screenings before being able to enter the facility. This includes all attorneys and vendors. Additionally, all religious volunteers, clergy, and program volunteers will be stopped from entering at this time.

Registered Sex Offenders who must visit the jail for compliance reporting will also have to undergo medical screenings before being able to enter.
