Katy Perry Canceling Awards Show Appearance

Katy Perry has canceled a scheduled appearance at Wednesday's People's Choice Awards. This was to be her first public appearance since the announcement of her divorce from husband Russell Brand.

Perry tweeted, "Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS." She's been nominated for seven awards, including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist andSong of the Year for "E.T"

Perry announced to her fans, "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again." She then addressed tabloid speculation, saying, "Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, 'close sources' or my family."
