We used to celebrate National Night Out when I lived in the Broadmoor area of Shreveport. It was always a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors! Get to know yours and take a bite out of crime tomorrow night in Shreveport/Bossier City!

National Night Out is a crime prevention event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Residents are encouraged to hold block parties, cook outs or other outdoor activities to help build strong bonds with their neighbors and watch out for one another in an effort to fight crime.

The date for this year's “Bossier City and Shreveport Night Out” will be Tuesday, October 2, 2012and we expect this year to be bigger and better than ever before.

The launch of this years event will commence in the 3000 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Should you have any questions, please call our Public Information Office at 673-6932.

We are looking forward to this opportunity to fellowship with the citizens that are so important to our crime reduction efforts. As I have said many times in the past, working hand in hand with the communities we are sworn to serve and protect is of the utmost importance to us and we are excited about Bossier City/Shreveport Night Out 2012…
