It came down to the final three on Thursday's results episode of "The X Factor" as Carlito Olivero, Alex & Sierra and Jeff Gutt vied for this year's championship.

After a lackluster song mix, Latin heartthrob Olivero wound up in third place. Alex & Sierra delivered an inconsistent set of their trademark alternative pop, while rocker Gutt gave what many thought was a solid performance.

But when the dust settled, there could only be one winner. But first, an array of guest stars dropped by, including Mary J. Blige, Lea Michele, Pitbull and One Direction.

Finally, a winner was announced, and it turned out to be Alex & Sierra who won the grand prize of a $1 million record contract.

"X Factor" judge Demi Lovato made her last appearance on the show, which, judging from its recent ratings, may not be back next year, either.
