Hidden Gems: 318 Farmers Markets Worth Visiting This Summer
Summertime in Louisiana means we want to stay inside next to the air conditioner, but one can only spend so much time talking to the thermostat before finding an excuse to get out of the house. One of the greatest excuses for getting out of the house in the 318 is the amazing farmer's markets in the 318.
Whether you're in Shreveport, Bossier City, Minden, or Ruston, a farmer's market is only a short drive away.
Shreveport Farmers Market
The Shreveport Farmers' Market is only around for a few months out of the year, which makes it that much more important you get out to one before they go away for the year. Taking place at Festival Plaza, the Shreveport Farmers' Market places you in downtown Shreveport with tons of the best local produce vendors and artisan crafts.
The Shreveport farmers market will take place every Saturday starting on May 31st, 2025, and the last market for the season will be Saturday, August 23rd. The start time for each Saturday is 8:00 AM, and the end time is 12:00 PM.
The Red River Revel is the same group behind the Shreveport Farmers Market, makes sense that they use Festival Plaza for that too.
Bossier City Farmer's Market
Bossier City's farmers' market has over 200 vendor spaces available and takes place in the parking lot of the Pierre Bossier Mall during the summer and creeping into the fall. The Bossier City Farmer's Market starts on the first Saturday in April and ends on the last Saturday of November.
From April to November, every Saturday over a hundred vendors and crafters from Bossier City and the surrounding area gather from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm every Saturday, and they make it clear that the market takes no breaks during that time.
Ruston Farmer's Market
In Ruston, you don't need the summertime to enjoy a farmer's market, because the Ruston Farmer's Market is year-round. The Ruston Farmer's Market takes place in its own building, unlike the other farmer's markets in the 318, though don't get excited for state-of-the-art air conditioning, the doors stay open.
Every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Ruston Farmer's Market offers vendors, crafters, and produce from around the central region of North Louisiana. Even though the Ruston Farmers' Market is a year-round event, summertime might be the best time to go since Louisiana Tech won't be swarming with students.
