50 Cent Spells ‘Shreveport’ in Cash to Celebrate New Deal With City
Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has been making a point to prove his seriousness to the City of Shreveport this week. The ways he was doing it definitely worked, even if there was a large scoop of un-seriousness with it all.
First, as the Shreveport City Council was about to cast votes to approve a new long-term building lease with Jackson's G-Unit companies, he showed up at the meeting. It was a move that surprised many, but showed the commitment the media mogul has to the projects in the city.
Jackson was very charismatic when speaking to the Council, and to those in attendance. Which is something you could expect from an entertainer the caliber of Jackson. When talking to the Council, he had a light tone, but also delievered a more serious message about his intentions. He shared that he views his projects in the city as a "legacy project". 50 Cent stated:
“This project is a legacy project for me. I don’t think I’ve done anything that directly affected as many people as this project will here in Shreveport. I’m just excited to get to it.”
How Did The City Council Respond to 50 Cent's Appearance?
That meeting ended up featuring a vote for the lease between Jackson and the City for the old Stageworks building downtown. The vote was unanimous to give the lease to Jackson and his companies. Which now adds to the massive lease agreement between the two parties for the Millennium Studios buildings that is already in place.
Jackson's intent is to move all of his film and television production to Shreveport, and use these buildings as part of the project.
What Did 50 Cent Do After The City Agreed To The New Lease?
After the vote, Jackson spent some time on social media celebrating. He posted video compilations focused on the city, and even used a large amount of cash to spell out the city's name.
In the video he shared with the cash laid out, he used his tagline "All roads lead to Shreveport"...as well as a Diddy joke. While some online estimate that Jackson used over $2 million to create the S-H-R-E-V-E-P-O-R-T image.
The fact Jackson made it a point to visit Shreveport for the vote, and continues to promote Shreveport on his social media, shows that he's still invested in the city. More than from a monetary standpoint, but that he's actively thinking about the community when he's not here.
