Report: ‘Assassin’s Creed’ TV Series in Development From Ubisoft
It’s uncertain whether we’ll see another Assassin’s Creed movie, at least on the same scale, but that wouldn’t stop TV from giving it the old college try. Franchise content head Aymar Azaizia recently appeared to suggest a TV take on the video game franchise was in the works, so get your wrist-blades ready.
The confirmation reportedly emerged from Azaizia’s Reddit AMA (h/t IGN), though Ubisoft Motion Pictures has not offered details of any such project. Don’t worry about the level of quality matching the film, as Azaizia offered “It’s like the movie guys, we will take our time to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of.” Comforting.
The report also points back to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirming a Netflix TV series in development last year, though that project was never confirmed to be an Assassin’s Creed adaptation. Ubisoft is also working on video game movies based on Splinter Cell, and The Division.
It’s too early to offer any speculation on what an Assassin’s Creed TV series might entail, but could the franchise lend better to a serialized format than movies? Stay tuned, as further details unfold.
