As if the recent reports of COVID-19 infection numbers spiking across the country weren't sobering enough, that spike has now come home.  As Caddo Parish cases soar this week (latest reports put the number north of 3,500 cases), we're now seeing the relatively small number of confirmed infections and deaths in Bossier City grow pretty fast as well.

This week alone, Bossier City has added 186 cases of the disease and 3 deaths caused by the novel Coronavirus to the official total.  According to KSLA, that includes the first confirmed case in the Bossier City Fire Department.  To date, this makes 906 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 31 deaths.

These startling numbers prompted Bossier City Mayor Lorenz “Lo” Walker to urge residents to take precautions like limiting exposure to groups and wearing a face mask.  According to the report, the mayor also asked that the public "...be diligent in washing and sanitizing their hands, stay home if they are sick and cooperate with contact tracing efforts."

You can see the Mayor's weekly video update detailing the cities current status and response to this crisis below.  Mayor Walker is joined by Bossier City Police Chief Shane McWilliams and Bossier City Fire Department Chief Brad Zagone in this address.
