Even though we are starting to see the signs of light at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic tunnel, folks are still having a tough time financially.  The effects of shutting down pretty much the entire economy will be felt for years to come, and unfortunately the weight of the impact will be on folks who lost their entire way of life during this incredibly difficult time.

For renters and landlords, this is an especially tricky situation.  Renters who lost their jobs and struggled to find new work while surviving on unemployment and stimulus checks from the government (if they qualified) found it hard to make ends meet, and that includes paying the biggest bill - the rent.  Landlords were in a similarly difficult spot - rent wasn't flowing in from usually very dependable tenants.  To make it more difficult, a moratorium on evictions was put in place - so even if a landlord could find a tenant that could pay - they couldn't kick anyone out!

Obviously, this is a less-than-ideal situation for everyone involved.  In response to this mess, Caddo Parish will host a " virtual informational session" about the parish's Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). The program is funded through COVID-19 relief funds from the federal government and should provide a stop-gap measure against a massive wave of evictions set to sweep across the state.

According to Patch.com, the free session will cover everything necessary to apply for the relief - including documents and additional resources.  The clinic will reportedly be livestreamed Wednesday, March 31 at 7:00pm on the Parish's Facebook page and YouTube channels.
