2020 is coming to a close.  I wish I could say the same about the COVID-19 crisis in America, or even our state.  Unfortunately, one of (if not the) biggest issues to deal with this year will still be wrecking out plans in 2021.  The Coronavirus pandemic that has enveloped the entirety of human civilization is only under control in a few, isolated places like New Zealand.

The country announced to day that it would be lifting all restrictions and policies in place to slow the spread of this terrible virus.  They've even announced quarantine-free travel with their neighbor Australia (who also has begun lifting their stay at home orders recently).

Meanwhile, in Louisiana - we are experiencing a third wave that is threatening to overload our medical system with 4 Willis-Knighton hospitals at max capacity.  Now, Northwood High School in Shreveport has announced that there will be no more in-person classes for the rest of the year!  The Ark-La-Tex Homepage is reporting that the school is going completely virtual this week, which is the last week students would be attending classes before the Christmas break.  School officials made the decision based on the high number of faculty members who have been quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure.

Tentatively, that puts kids out of the building until January 5th of 2021 - which is no doubt sending some parents scrambling.  That being said, no return-to-class date has been announced at this time so the possibility of virtual classes continuing after the Christmas vacation is still on the table.
