Care to Try The Craziest Ice Cream Flavors in the Ark-La-Tex?
I'm pretty sure these are flavors we wouldn't dare eat on their own, but swirling them into a delicious, frozen treat is a major win.
When it comes to ice cream, I'm pretty simple. I want it smooth and creamy without a lot of speed bumps in it, like cookie pieces or candy crumble. At Coldstone, my favorite is plain vanilla with cinnamon. YUM! Oh, or chocolate with creamy peanut butter. Some would say I'm boring. I say I'm classic.
That doesn't necessarily mean I'm not game for trying the most insane ice cream flavors in the Ark-La-Tex.
Delish has given us a list of the Craziest Ice Cream Flavors in Each State across the country. Now, we're not exactly mixing Jack Daniels into our icy treat like Wisconsin is, but we are adding in some unexpected flavors in the south. In fact, if given the option to consume these are our own, we would probably pass, but serve it as ice cream and we'll start salivating well before we reach the parlor.
Care to try any of these?
Arkansas: Buttermilk Ice Cream
You can find this little southern gem in Little Rock at a place called Loblolly Creamery. While buttermilk may not be something we'd chug from a glass, this little scoop of heaven is described as having the same richness as cheesecake.
Louisiana: Champagne and Violette
How classy does this sound? I could totally see myself scooping this out of a fancy dish on my front porch while wearing a big hat and white gloves. This is the pride of The Creole Creamery in New Orleans as a part of their seasonal menu. It's floral and sophisticated like strawberries and wine.
Texas: Coconut Curry
Ok, we see you, Texas. This is completely unexpected. Especially since it is also vegan. Stop by Melt in Fort Worth if you crave a scoop. The secret is in toasting the coconut and then dashing it with curry. It makes for a fiery seasonal treat.
