Sad news today for many of us who use the CHRISTUS Athletic Clubs.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced every business in the country to make serious decisions. Some businesses are finally reopening now to the public as our state enters Phase Two, while others decide it they'll be able to re-open at all.

Sadly, one local company has weighed all options and have decided to close their facilities down for good. Today, in a lengthy Facebook post, CHRISTUS Athletic Clubs announced they would not be reopening their two facilities in Shreveport and Bossier. In the Facebook announcement, they say the decision comes after a great deal of prayerful reflection. They also emphasize that the decision was incredibly hard to come to and that it was not made lightly.

My heart breaks for all of the businesses in town that tried their very best to make it through to the other side of our COVID-19 pandemic but ultimately fell short. Hundreds of club members commented on the announcement, many of them asking to reconsider, some pointing out the recent renovations, and mostly all understanding the decision, and sending well-wishes.

In the statement, CHRISTUS says, "It has been a privilege to serve our many club members in their pursuit of health, and we look forward to seeing them in our other services and facilities in Shreveport and Bossier."
