Deputy Shot While Making Traffic Stop in Baton Rouge Sunday Morning
There has been yet another officer shooting in Baton Rouge.
WBRZ is reporting that a deputy tried to stop a suspect driving near the Airline Road and Pecue intersection this morning and was shot by the suspect.
After shooting the officer, the gunman continued to drive to a remote road along the Amite River off Hoo Shoo Too. The yet-to-be-identified suspect crashed while shooting at the deputy, left the vehicle and ran into some woods near Kendalwood Road.
The suspect continued to fire shots as he ran into the woods.
Deputies have set up a perimeter in the area and the sheriff's office's helicopter is also being used to aid in the search.
According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the good news is that the deputy's injuries do not appear to life-threatening.
