Fun Day at Shreveport’s Shriner Hospital With Operation Santa Claus
Every year Townsquare Media Shreveport teams up with Operation Santa Claus to make Christmas happen for all the good boys and girls in our community.
For many families, Operation Santa Claus is the only way they wake up to presents under the Christmas tree. That's why you've seen Shreveport Fire and Shreveport Police hitting the streets collecting new unwrapped toys all over our community.
Operation Santa Claus Showed Up to Shriner’s Hospital to Make Christmas Come Early For Several KIds.
Shreveport Police took to their Facebook to say, "For 40 years, this grand tradition has brought joy to countless young hearts. Founded by Barney Cannon, a beloved KWKH DJ and producer of 25 years, Operation Santa Claus was built on one simple yet powerful goal: “Making Kids Smile.” Thank you to everyone who continues to make this celebration of love, joy, and giving possible. Together, we’re making a difference, one smile at a time."
According to the Shreveport Police website "Operation Santa Claus is a multi-agency, non-profit organization made up of law enforcement volunteers who sign up needy children to receive toys for Christmas. Operation Santa Claus is an officer-referred program. Once officers submit the names of deserving children, volunteers find the toys the children
Several Kids at Shriner's in Shreveport Were Able to Meet Santa and Pick Out Toys From the Big Guy Himself.
The kids were all smiles. They met Santa and talked to several Shreveport police officers and firefighters. Doesn't that seem like a fun day? The best part is that there was "snow" courtesy of Shreveport's Fire Department.
