Harry Potter Fan Favorite Coming To Geek'd Con In Shreveport

Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is heading back to Downtown Shreveport for another big year at the Shreveport Convention Center. This year's event will be August 18th through August 20th.

One of this year's guests is a pretty big deal, because he doesn't make a lot of appearances in our country!

Making a rare United States convention appearance, it's the Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team, Oliver Wood! Actor Sean Biggerstaff is coming to Geek'd Con in Shreveport this August!

Biggerstaff appeared as Oliver Wood in the Harry Potter film series, including the movies The Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, and The Deathly Hallows Part 2. Oliver was responsible for teaching Harry Potter how to play Quidditch, including giving him his very first lesson.

Wood and Potter would go on to have multiple Quidditch victories together, and have an even more important victory together. Wood returned to Hogwarts in Deathly Hallows Part 2 helping to fight against Voldemort's forces with Harry Potter.

Outside of the Wizarding World, Biggerstaff has worked on multiple Doctor Who projects, including the audio dramas Time Reef, Heart & Soul, The Skull of Sobek, and Shada. He's also appeared in Mary Queen of Scots, Charles II: The Power and The Passion, and Urban Myths.

Biggerstaff also won a BAFTA Award for his work in the film Consenting Adults.

Since its start, Geek'd Con has been one of the premiere comic con style events in the state of Louisiana. The event has generated millions of dollars in economic impact to the Shreveport and Bossier City area. While also bringing in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members, Star Wars icons, Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame members, and horror movie legends.

Over the last 7 events, an estimated 106,000 fans have come through the Shreveport Convention Center to enjoy the festivities. Fans have walked away with one-of-a-kind items, autographs, pictures, and unmatched experiences.

The 2023 dates are going to be August 18th through 20th. Geek'd Con 2023 will follow the traditional Friday, Saturday, and Sunday schedule. Opening with a Vendor Preview Night on Friday, where the public is welcome to shop from over 100 vendor booths with unique collectibles, hand crafted items, artwork, and more. Vendors from all across the United States come to Geek'd Con every year, and offer a wide selection of items. That doesn't include the tremendous volume of local artists who attend the event every year as well.

History Of Geek'd Con Guests

Geek'd Con is Shreveport's biggest comic and pop culture event. Launching in 2015, the event quickly became one of the premiere comic con style events in the entire state of Louisiana.

A big part of that growth has been the celebrity guest lineups. Since the first show in 2015, the quality of guests attending Geek'd Con rivals any pop culture event of this size.
