Haughton Dog Rescue: 13 Dogs Saved from Appalling Conditions

On May 23rd, the Haughton Police Department uncovered appalling conditions during an animal welfare check. Officers, who noticed a horrendous smell from outside the home, quickly obtained a warrant when access was denied. Inside, they rescued 13 dogs from a scene described as worse than anything many have ever seen.

Once inside the residence, officers from the Haughton Police Department were confronted with a truly harrowing sight: dogs confined in cages, shockingly stacked one on top of the other. The images documenting these conditions are profoundly disturbing and may be difficult for some viewers. As a result of the horrific discovery, Michele Massara of the 400 Block of Union Texas Rd was arrested and charged with 13 counts of animal cruelty. She is currently held at the Bossier Maximum Facility on a substantial $460,000 bond.

What About the 13 Dogs Rescued From These Horrid Conditions?

As of Tuesday, May 27th, the dogs are visiting a vet for care, and then they are going to be under the care of LAMA Animal Rescue.

If you want to help, you can make some donations to the Haughton Police Department, and they will deliver the donations to LAMA. The donations needed are Purina One Dog Food, cleaning supplies, bleach, towels, detergent, and of course, monetary donations are always welcome.
