I Love the Ark-La-Tex; Operation Santa Clause
Some children are still in need of your help to make their Christmas special. So on this week's I Love the Ark-La-Tex, Kaitlyn Loyacano and I found out one way you can donate this Christmas.
We went to Benton, Louisiana for Operation Santa Clause. They help more than one hundred local kids to get presents for Christmas. And Christmas is only 15 days away. So they need your help to donate and make this years Operation Santa Clause a huge success.
We talked with Shreveport Fire Department Jeff Williams to get him to tell us all about Operation Santa Claus.
"Operation Santa Claus is a joint effort between Shreveport Police, Shreveport Fire, Bossier Sheriff's Office and Townsquare Media. Now when the Shreveport, Fire, and Bossier Sheriff's Office are out doing their duties well they come across families that are on hard times. I mean they may not get anything for Christmas and the officers, firefighters they nominate the children and they bring the list to our Operation Santa Claus," said Williams.
The next question we asked Williams was how many children do they try to help.
"We normally do around a thousand or little bit more and this year is no different then any other year and sometimes the need fluctuates goes up higher or lower we're just a little bit lower this year, but I tell you the need is still the same. These kids need for us to show up and show them that we care."
It's not to late to donate you can drop off your donation at Townsquare Media located at 6341 West Port Avenue in Shreveport.
And that's another reason why we love the Ark-La-Tex.
