Free Hot Dogs and a Haunted House: Your Ultimate Guide to the Minden REC Festival
Minden, Louisiana, is quickly earning its reputation as the "Friendliest City in America," and on Saturday, October 25th, it's proving it by throwing the biggest party of the season.
With new restaurants and fun downtown shops, Minden is already a destination, but these two fall festivals make it an absolute can't-miss event in Northwest Louisiana.
Can't-Miss Event: The REC Fall Festival
Get ready for an epic Halloween festival taking place at the Minden REC (1000 Recreation Dr, Minden, LA). This community favorite runs from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The best part? Every kid gets a free hot dog and drink!
For those seeking a thrill, the highly anticipated haunted house will begin its haunting at 7:00 pm, sponsored in part by the Webster Parish Convention and Tourism Bureau. It’s the perfect way to kick off your spooky season.
The Witches Ride Takes Over Downtown
Earlier in the day, the annual Witches Ride will take over downtown Minden, bringing its own festival-like atmosphere. The fun kicks off at 3:30 p.m. in Miller Quarters and the Civic Center parking lot.
This pre-parade festival is also free and offers fun for the whole family. You’ll find over 30 local vendors, various food trucks, a cash bar, a DJ, live music, and even a kids' costume contest and a "best witchiest" laugh contest. Spouses and kids are encouraged to come out and enjoy the festivities and watch the parade ride by.
To say that Minden is about to be the best place to be on Saturday, October 25th, is a massive understatement! Get there early to enjoy all the cute shops and tasty options before the fun begins.
