Mudbugs Have Something Very Special Planned For Fans This Weekend
It's finally here, this weekend the 'Bugs take the ice for the first time in their quest to defend the Robertson Cup.
Believe it or not, three years ago at this time, there was no magic Mudbugs hockey in the air. At that time, Mudbugs hockey as our area knew it for 14 years, was no more. It's amazing to think about that, the fact that just three years ago, George's Pond was just the Hirsch, no banners hung in any arena, and the Mudbugs were a fun memory for us but nothing more.
Then BOOM.
They not only came back but came back with a vengeance. Renovating the Old Barn and turning it into something truly special, turning it into George's Pond. The Mudbugs banners from 14 seasons of dominance finally hung in the arena where it all began and the Mudbugs were back, back.
Their inaugural season in the NAHL came at this time two years ago, a season where the Mudbugs showed the league that not only they belonged, but they would be a force for years to come. It didn't take long for the Bugs to drive that point across. One year ago at this time, the 'Bugs were gearing up for what would become a truly magical season. A season that ended with the Mudbugs and their captain Dominick Procopio holding the Robertson Cup high atop their heads, as they finished at the very top of the NAHL.
Crazy how things can change in just three years, right?
This weekend, Thursday and Saturday, the Mudbugs open up their season in front of what's sure to be a rowdy crowd at George's Pond. In the process, the Bugs plan on dropping not just one, but two banners to join the many others in the rafters of the Pond.
After attending the walk-through for the pregame banner drops, all I can really say without giving anything away, is that you absolutely can't miss this.
It will be something special, and something Mudbugs faithful deserve to see.
I'll see you Thursday and Saturday night! Get your tickets now by clicking HERE or visiting any local Brookshires.
