TV watchers in Bangor, Maine were shocked as two news anchors resigned on the air.

WVII newsanchors Cindy Michaels and Tony Consiglio quit at the end of their 6 p.m. newscast. Consiglio thanked viewers and said, "Some recent developments have come to our attention though and departing together is the best alternative we can take."

Michaels, the station's news director, told the Bangor Daily News that editorial interference and "constant disrespecting and belittling of staff" from higher-ups were to blame for their departure.
