Watch as Pastor Tony Spell Is Being Taken Into Custody
The leader of a church near Baton Rouge wanted for allegedly threatening to injure a protester has been taken into custody. Pastor Tony Spell is accused of trying to hit someone with his bus.
The person was outside of the church protesting the fact that Spell was continuing to hold services despite the governor's Stay-At-Home order. The pastor was caught on video seemingly trying to back his church's bus over the person protesting.
A warrant was issued for the pastor's arrest shortly after the tape was seen by Central Police. The above video shows Central PD taking the controversial pastor away in cuffs.
Spell was already facing six misdemeanor charges relating to ignoring the Governor's orders to not hold church services and is now facing assault charges for this incident.
Spell's services had been dwindling in numbers since Easter since one worshiper died from COVID-19 and the church's attorney contracted the virus.
