The moment that we have all been waiting for has finally arrived!  The state of Louisiana has finally started to thaw the restrictions put in place to help control the spread of the Coronavirus causing the COVID-19 crisis.  Governor John Bel Edwards made the announcement earlier this week that the state would move into "Phase 1" of re-opening outlined by the White House - that means that some businesses could reopen under strict guidelines.

One of those businesses is the R.W. Norton Art Gallery, kinda. Yesterday, officials with the Shreveport museum announced that they would be re-opening their botanical gardens this weekendAccording to a post on the official Facebook page for the 54 year old museum stated that the 40 acres of lush, landscaped bliss will be accessible from 4:00pm - 8:30pm Monday through Thursday and  6:30am - 8:30pm Friday through Sunday.

The beautifully manicured gardens features thousands of gorgeous Azalea specimens, spring flowers, mighty oaks, and some incredible paths (including bridges, streams and rest areas) to view them from.  If you go this weekend, the museum and garden staff is asking you to observe recommended social distancing guidelines (staying at least 6-feet from other patrons).  The botanical gardens can be accessed through  the main service gate on the south end of the building at Creswell Ave.  The gate on Thora Blvd. will serve as an exit only.
