Jake Lloyd, who played Anakin Skywalker in 1999's Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, was arrested in South Carolina Wednesday after leading police on a high-speed chase.

The 26-year-old Lloyd faces charges of reckless driving, driving without a license, failing to stop for a blue light and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court in July.

"On Wednesday afternoon, around 1:30 p.m., we received a call from the Charleston County office...we were told a car had crossed over county lines into our county, Colleton County," said a police spokesperson. The car was speeding and passed over double yellow lines. We were able to find the car that matched the description and the chase ensued."

The spokesperson went on to say that Lloyd was traveling "well over 100 miles per hour" and driving erratically.
"We initiated blue lights and the car continued onward," he added. "The car drove through the woods and wrecked out after having crashed through a small fence and a number of trees. He was apprehended at that time, about 2 p.m. The chase had been going on for about 20 minutes before his arrest."
The actor did not appear to be drunk or under the influence of drugs, and no field sobriety test was conducted.
The actor remains in jail as of Sunday, with bail set at more than $10,000.
