"Chronicle" director Josh Trank has been announced as the director of one of two "Star Wars" spin-off films which are currently in the works.

"Godzilla" director Gareth Edwards has already been announced as director of another "Star Wars" spin-off. One film will cover the adventures of young Han Solo, while the other will focus on bounty hunter Boba Fett. No word yet as to who will direct which film, we do know that Edwards' film is due for release Dec. 16, 2016. No release date has been set for Trank's movie.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said. “He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”

Trank released a statement which said, “The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time.”
