If you've logged onto IRS.gov to track your stimulus payment using the "Get My Payment" portal and you're seeing the wrong bank account number, the information you're seeing might actually be bank accounts for H&R Block and TurboTax.

If you used TurboTax or H&R Block to file your 2019 taxes, it seems that somehow, for reasons as of now unexplained by the IRS, your second stimulus payment may have been sent to those company's banks instead.

According to clickorlando.com, if you paid your TurboTax preparation fees with your refund due instead of paying for it upfront, the second payment may have been sent to one a TurboTax bank, and that could be why you're seeing the wrong account number.

TurboTax posted to their Facebook page that "The IRS announced yesterday that due to the speed at which they issued this second round of payments, they sent some payments to an account that may be closed or no longer active."

Nypost.com reports this issue isn't necessarily a universal one. Many people who used TurboTax and H&R Block to file their 2019 taxes have received their stimulus money without any issue. However, H&R Block is warning customers that if they see an unfamiliar account number when using the IRS’s “Get My Payment” tool, that's an indication that "the cash went to a type of H&R Block account that the Kansas City-based company sets up for customers who opted to have their tax-prep fees deducted from their tax refund."

If this has happened to you, H&R Block will deliver your stimulus payment by however you received your 2019 tax refund from them - either by direct deposit, by check or by prepaid debit card.
