We didn’t mind Stranger Things Season 2 taking a few months to capitalize on Halloween, but there may be no such comfort in 2018. Star David Harbour suggests the third season of Netflix’s breakout drama may not arrive until 2019, and we are Upside Down about it.

Keep in mind that Harbour isn’t the arbiter of all things Stranger, but the fan-favorite star told Variety that production on Season 3 isn’t likely to begin until at least April of 2018. As such, it’s unlikely Season 3 would premiere any time before early 2019, just as Game of Thrones’ lengthy production will leave us in the cold for next year. Says Harbour:

I mean, one of the things that’s annoying for fans is that it takes us a long time to do them. Like, you probably won’t get [Season 3] until sometime in 2019. But also part of the thing is, like any good thing, they need time. And those guys work so hard. I mean, they just sit in their apartment and write for 12, 14 hours a day.

Season 3 had been in the works before its recent announcement, especially as creators have repeatedly spoken to the series lasting four or five seasons. Netflix even reportedly wanted Seasons 3 and 4 to film back-to-back, lest its young stars age too quickly, and it might now stand to reason they knew the third season would get a late start.

We’ll see if Netflix or the Duffers confirm Harbour’s claim, but is Stranger Things Season 3 worth waiting until 2019?
