Texas Considered for Elon Musk’s Hyperloop Project
Elon Musk is either a real life Iron Man, or a Bond villain in the making. When his reality is space travel, electric cars, and super-fast mass transit - what do you think his dreams are made out of?
Elon's latest technological obsession is bringing faster than fast transport for the masses that promises to slash travel between major cities into a fraction of the time we see now. The project is called "Hyperloop," and it is essentially a subway train that rides on electromagnetic rails and reaches cruising speeds of almost 800 miles per hour! The latest news is that Texas may be the one of the first places this amazing tech will be built.
KXAN reports that the proposed stretch of Hyperloop would connect Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Laredo - making travel between a matter of minutes instead of hours. When the system is in place, the commute between Dallas and Austin is estimated to take between 20 and 25 minutes. This would make living in any major city in Texas, and working in another completely possible.
The Texas route is one of 10 such locations being considered around the world as part of the Hyperloop One Global Challenge. The company is expected make the decision by the end year.
