The Most Dangerous Day To Drive In Louisiana
Louisiana drivers need to look out today, August 7th, because it happens to be the most deadly day on American roads. Nextbase, a dash camera brand from the UK, recently completed a study on American roads and safety, which determined the deadliest day of the year for American drivers. This study was released on Monday which is National Dash Cam Day, a celebration already popular in other countries.
As part of the research, a survey found that nearly 2/3rds of American drivers agree that U.S. roads are more dangerous today than five years ago. When all of the numbers are crunched August 7th is the single most deadly day on U.S. roads. Most people in the survey attribute the biggest danger for drivers is distracted driving, with the second biggest danger as road rage. 76.6% of survey participants cited their biggest worry as being involved in any car collision, and the second greatest being something that could happen to a loved one on the road.
According to Nextbase's data, Louisiana has 887 fatal crashes per year and is ranked as the 16th deadliest state for drivers in the nation. The most dangerous parish for motorists is East Baton Rouge, with a stated 99 crashes per year. The five most dangerous cities for drivers in the state are as follows:
- Baton Rouge - 75 Crashes per Year
- New Orleans - 61 Crashes per Year
- Shreveport - 24 Crashes per Year
- Monroe - 17 Crashes per Year
- Lafayette - 16 Crashes per Year
Nextbase hopes that this study can convince more Americans to adopt dashcams in their cars, only 18% of Americans use a dashcam in their car (Research Nester), but in Nextbase's home country of the UK that doubles to nearly 31% of motorists (iCompario).
