This Stranger Things Star Was A Texas Theatre Kid
The Netflix series Stranger Things is one of the most popular franchises of the last decade. The show has taken over the world with clever dialog, phenomenal storylines, and incredible acting. Which is pretty impressive since fans had to wait nearly 3 full years to get this new season.
Back in 2016, the series blasted onto the scene as one of the greatest pieces of streaming-specific content we had witnessed. The 8 episodes that dropped in July of that year took over pop culture in a big way. They followed it up with season 2 in 2017, and season 3 in 2019, but then we had to from July of 2019 to the summer of 2022 to get season 4.
Wisely, the producers decided to break this season up for the 4th season, dragging fans along for a big journey.
The cast of Stranger Things is one of the biggest elements that makes the show so good. Which does create a conversation over whether or not working on the show makes them better, or they make the show better? That has to be asked, because the core of the show's cast started when they were just kids.
Sure, the legend Winona Ryder helped launch the show, and David Harbour is a force, but the main cast is built around Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, and Sadie Sink. Those six all started filming the series as kids, even though they're adults now, and have been filming the show (playing kids) as adults. So the question is, did the producers just have a great eye for incredible young actors, or did working with Winona Ryder and David Harbour make them better actors as they grew up?
But many of these kids had already been involved in acting prior to being cast in Stranger Things. In fact, one of them was a theatre kid in Texas before becoming a Stranger Things star.
Sadie Sink plays Max Mayfield in Stranger Things, a character that has become a massive fan favorite this season. Sadie is originally from Brenham, Texas, between Austin and Houston.
While growing up in the area, she performed in some local productions, before moving to plays with Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) and Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. At one point, she even played the lead in Annie with TUTS...
She then made her way to Broadway, before eventually landing her role in the Stranger Things franchise. One that has now jumped to the top of fans' lists as their favorite character in the show.
