Tom Segura Meets a Cajun

In his 2018 Netflix special Disgraceful, Tom Segura told a story about his first time meeting a man with a Cajun accent. Tom said he struggled to understand his accent which was the setup for Tom to say "We have this whole population of Cajuns living amongst us like they're one of us and they're not, why do they have rights?"

Segura added fuel to the fire by saying "I support building a wall if it's around the state of Louisiana cus those people are out of their f*****g minds."

Louisiana Was Furious With Segura

Segura has talked openly about the massive amounts of hate he got following the standup show, saying during a show at the Chicago Theatre Segura touched on the hate he gets as a performer, "one quarter of a million emails and messages just from the state of Louisiana."

Segura never apologized to the people of Louisiana, instead while he was on a late-night interview after the release of the special he clarified that while he was the target of online harassment he also "get messages of support where people were like 'Hey man I live in Louisiana I'm not mad because I was watching a comedy show I know this wasn't a stump speech your not running for congress' and I was like 'yeah it's not a big deal'."
