Top Five Reasons I’m Excited About Geek’ Con
In August, Geek'd Con will roll through town yet again and I have a feeling this year will be the biggest yet.
Geek'd Con has been rolling for several years now, and it seems like every year they raise the bar a little more. I'm not just talking about the stars and celebrities they bring in for us to meet and hang out with, it's so much deeper than that, and that's why this is one of my favorite events of the year.
Along with their row of celebrity appearances, they also provide informative and fun panels, and every vendor you can possibly imagine from all over the region. It's truly a one-of-a-kind event and we're lucky to have it.
Here are the five reasons I'm excited about Geek'd Con 2019!

IT'S MARRY POPPINS Y'ALL!
Sorry for the all-caps, but I just can't contain my excitement. Michael Rooker was announced as a celebrity guest this week and I'm absolutely through the roof. Of all the big stars Geek'd Con has brought in in the past, I' most excited about Michael Rooker. That says a lot considering the guests Geek'd Con has brought in. My favorite movie of all time is Guardians of the Galaxy Vo. 2 and Rooker's Yondu is essentially the true star of that film. Also, Merle from the Walking Dead is pretty cool too.

Vendors, Vendors, and More Vendors
Everyone who knows me knows I love to shop. Really, it's a true downfall of mine but I absolutely love it. Naturally, when Geek'd Con rolls around I brace myself, because I will find so much that I just have to buy. The variety of vendors that Geek'd Con brings in each year is truly remarkable and unique, and I'm already saving up for the money I will be gladly handing all of them.

From Scranton to Shreveport
It's almost like the powers-at-be have booked this Geek'd Con just to please me. I ave watched the Office all the way through at least eight times by now, so you can imagine my excitement when they announced Oscar Nunez and Kate Flannery! That's right, Oscar and Meredith will be in Shreveport this August and I may never leave them alone.

The Kids are Coming
For the first time this year, I'll be bringing both of my daughters for the full Geek'd Con experience. They will be in heaven, and I can't wait to watch them enjoy the convention. Every year, Geek'd Con goes out of their way to make sure the little ones have a great time. My daughters will be on Cloud Nine and clearly that gets me very excited. Now I just have to buy enough blue paint to make them both look like Yondu.

The Cosplayers
This has always been a highlight to me, partly because I'm so new to this cosplay world but I greatly enjoy it and appreciate it. To see so many fans and professionals from around the world come to Shreveport and show off their incredible cosplay costumes is a true treat. This year, the cosplay will be through the roof!
