Woman Mistakes Pregnancy for Bad Chinese Food
29 year old Crystal Gail Amerson was up all night, running back and forth to the bathroom. She thought it might be because she feasted on some Chinese food the day before, perhaps it had gone bad and left her with a bit of food poisoning. As it turns out, her upset tummy had nothing to do with cunning tactician and amazing cook General Tso, but was actually a sign that the issue had started 37 weeks earlier. Crystal was completely unaware that she was pregnant with her second child!
The Pensacola News Journal reports that Amerson called into work around 5 am that morning. After the pain continued to intensify, she woke up her husband and instructed him to call an ambulance. She was having contractions, but since she did not know about the impending arrival - she was terrified about what was happening! At around 6:30 am, the ambulance arrived. It was at that point that they figured out what was going on, but it was too late - there wasn't enough time to get to the hospital. A short distance down the road, at 6:59 a.m. this past Sunday, 18.9 inch and 5.27 pound Oliver James was born in the back of an ambulance.
How could she be totally unaware of her pregnancy, especially if this was her second you ask? Crystal claims that she exhibited none of the classic symptoms of pregnancy, such as morning sickness or significant weight gain. She also didn't notice little Oliver kicking at all.
The family is healthy, happy, and doing well now - but Amerson says she will avoid Great China Buffet for a little while.
