Governor Edwards Proposes $30 Billion Spending Plan

We know how much most of us hate government spending, so here is what your governor is proposing.

$30 Billion certainly sounds and feels like a whole lot of money, because it is. But, personally, I like where this money is going.

As a son of a woman who has spent her career teaching and molding young minds in the Ark-La-Tex, it certainly excites me knowing that this spending will give teachers a pay raise and increase funding for education. Also, we'll see the money go to health care as well.

Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says funding remains uncertain because an official forecast that shows increased revenues coming into the state has yet to be adopted. He says, "Unless and until the speaker is willing to recognize a forecast we can’t act on money that has not yet been recognized.”

Will the governor's proposed spending come to pass? We shall see...
