Jay’s Quarantine: And So It Begins
It has begun.... Here are my thoughts as I enter quarantine.
Life for me, like for many of you, has taken quite a few drastic twists and turns as of late. What started as more of a joke just a month ago, has blossomed into a global pandemic no doubt affecting the lives of everyone currently breathing air on our planet. COVID-19 is certainly no joke, as I'm finding out more and more each day.
A couple of weeks ago, I found out that the nightclub I work at every weekend would be closing their doors until the gathering ban is lifted. In an instant, 25% if my income was gone.
The next week, gatherings of 50 or more were banned, causing me to lose all of my weddings and events over the course of the next month and a half. Once again, in an instant, 50% of my income was gone.
I've spent the last few days, like many of you, simply trying to pick up the pieces. I'm honestly not sure as I'm writing this how things will pan out. I know that all we can do is wake up and make the most out of each day, and hope things work out the way they should.
Today, with the state of Louisiana's "Stay Home" order looming, I have been told to stay at home for the foreseeable future. This is tough for me, as I'm generally only home long enough to take a nap and go to where I'm needed next. Since I was 15 years old, I've worked every day, seven days a week. I take great pride in my work ethic, so being stuck in the house will be a difficult job for me, to say the least.
Luckily, my job basically pertains to two things I should be able to do with ease while locked down inside my home... Write daily content for you to (hopefully) enjoy, and host my radio show on K945 every afternoon. Through the magic of modern technology, I've already set-up my makeshift radio studio in my living room, so I will be read to hit the airwaves tomorrow at 3:00 PM.
The show must go on!
Be on the lookout for my Day 1 review coming Monday evening!
