Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, of Florida, is in the news again. No there isn't another failed attempt at a run for office. This time he is leading the charge in making Daylight Saving Time permanent. He has the full support of the Governor of Florida, in fact, the Governor may be his biggest fan. This is where we all look at Governor John Bel Edwards and Governor Greg Abbott like "Are y'all getting in on this or what?"

Why is the entire state of Florida so pumped about the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021? Back in 2018, the Florida legislature passed a year-round Daylight Saving Time act however they are completely stalled. In order for this act to actually apply a change is needed on the federal level.

Other states need to jump in on this same act or something similar. The idea of more sunshine year-round is something that many states find appealing, but, all states need to be like-minded. How do we do this? Senator Rubio thinks that all of us should see this as a positive and those other lawmakers he hangs out with would make their constituents happy.

Senator Rubio claims that all Americans could use some more sunshine because of the catastrophe that was 2020. Could the pandemic and the rough winter be what propels every state to jump aboard the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021?

“Studies have shown many benefits of a year-round Daylight Saving Time, which is why the Florida legislature voted to make it permanent in 2018. I’m proud to reintroduce this bipartisan bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, and give our nation’s families more stability throughout the year.”  Senator Rubio said in a statement.

Regardless of how you feel, countless research shows that there is an economic impact when Daylight Saving Time starts.
