Paula Modersohn-Becker, born 1876, was a German Expressionist painter who's credited by the Museum of Modern Art as the first woman artist to depict herself nude in a portrait as well as the first to paint nude self-portraits while pregnant. Paula produced over 700 paintings during her lifetime.

If you'd like to see Sheep in the Birch Forest, you'll have to wait until January 15th of 2025 when it makes its way back the Meadows Museum at Centenary College of Louisiana, on the other hand if you're willing to make a trip for the summer the piece is already on display at the Neue Galerie and will be there until September 9th.
