Meet The Minds Behind the Comic Book ‘Stray Dogs’ At Geek’d Con
The most epic weekend on the Ark-La-Tex calendar is officially on the horizon. Geek'd Con is preparing to unleash three days of pop culture greatness at the Shreveport Convention Center from August 14th through the 16th, 2026.
This massive event is the undisputed heavyweight champion of conventions in North Louisiana, bringing a massive vendor floor, and thousands of fans, to Downtown Shreveport. It also promises an unforgettable celebrity experience, rolling out a massive guest lineup that already features David Arquette, Shannon Elizabeth, Summer Glau, and Slipknot's Chris Fehn.
The Forces Behind Modern Comic Book Horror Masterpieces
Gabe’s Cave Comics, Cards, & Collectibles is bringing a powerhouse creative partnership to Shreveport for Geek’d Con 2026. This August, fans can meet the team behind some of the most successful modern horror comics, as writer & artist Tony Fleecs and artist Tone Rodriguez join the lineup.
The duo is best known for their combined work on massive Image Comics hits. Fleecs is the co-creator and writer of the Eisner Award-nominated series "Stray Dogs," which paired a classic animation aesthetic with a gripping horror-thriller narrative.
Rodriguez contributed his artistic talents to the "Stray Dogs" universe, and the pair has reunited for the current survival-horror success "Feral."
Their collaboration even extends into television history. Fleecs and Rodriguez teamed up to create the prop copy of "The Adventures of Jimmy Halpert" used in the NBC series "The Office." The creators eventually turned the prop concept into a physical comic, which will be available at Tone's table this August.
What Has Tony Fleecs Done In His Comic Book Career
Beyond his co-creation of "Stray Dogs" and his work on "Feral," Fleecs is the creator of the acclaimed series "Local Man," a gritty take on superhero nostalgia. On the artistic side, his distinct style has been featured across major franchises including "Star Wars," "Rick & Morty," "Transformers," and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
Fleecs is also a mainstay in the "My Little Pony" universe, having worked on the comic series for years before transitioning to writing for the Netflix animated series "My Little Pony: Make Your Mark."
His talents extend to the "Big Two" as a writer as well. He is currently scripting the return of a DC Comics icon in "Deathstroke: The Terminator" and has penned stories for Marvel legends like "The Thing" and "Wolverine."
What Comic Books Has Tone Rodriguez Drawn
A fan-favorite returning to Shreveport, Rodriguez has an extensive legacy in both creator-owned horror and world-renowned animated properties. He spent years with Bongo Comics, providing art for "The Simpsons," "Futurama Comics," and the "Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror" series.
In the independent and cult-classic realm, his massive creator-owned horror work continues to shine. Rodriguez serves as a primary creative force on the survival-horror hit "Feral" and remains a key contributor to the "Stray Dogs" universe alongside Fleecs.
