Looks Like It’s Going To Be Another Warm Christmas
For once, I'd like to have a cool to slightly colder Christmas, but that looks like it's not going to the case again this year.
Last year we were kind of baking on Christmas Day when many of us set new or near record high temperatures with highs in the upper 70's to 80 degrees on Christmas Day! Our normal high temperature on Christmas is somewhere in the mid 50's. Its supposed to be cold on Christmas, or that's how a lot of Christmas songs depict Christmas!
I'm not expecting a white Christmas, although that would be nice, but realistically I know the chances of that happening are pretty darn slim to nothing, but I would like a cooler Christmas this year over last year, but that doesn't seem likely. The Climate Prediction Center has put our their 6 to 10 outlook, which now included Christmas Eve and it looks as if we're expected to experience warmer than average temperature across the region for Christmas. We're not alone with the outlook though, much of the nation west of the Appalachian Mountains looks to have a warmer Christmas year right along with us.
When it comes to rainfall, well, we shouldn't expect any of that either because the Climate Prediction Center expects us to be below average in the rainfall department.
So, if I had just one wish for Santa it would be a white, cold Christmas, but I know that's not going to happen so I'd settle for an average temperature on Christmas day. When you look at the extended forecasts, we could be nearing 70 on Christmas Day. So I'll take it and be thankful! Have a Merry Christmas y'all.
