When I went to LSU-Shreveport and was a writer for the school paper, one of my main jobs was to cover the Pilot's baseball team. Back then, they had superstar Andrew Brouillette leading the way. Andrew was an absolute STUD and, quite frankly, I didn't think the Pilots could field a better team than they did between 2009-2012 when the school won multiple NAIA World Series.

Boy, was I wrong. Because, right now, the Pilots are in the midst of a historic run. Wednesday night, the pursuit of perfection continued for the Pilots as they moved 41-0 and tied an NAIA record.

The Road to 41: LSUS Pilots' Winning Streak

With their 13-3 win over Nelson University Wednesday, the Pilots officially tied the longest win streak in NAIA history with 41 straight wins. The craziest part - it hasn't even really been close. If you look up and down the box scores this season, LSUS is beating people down. For instance, the Nelson Lions went up 1-0 in the first - after that, it was all Pilots. There's been a LOT of 7 inning run rules this season.

During their 41 win streak, the Pilots as a team have score 478 runs, hit 51 home runs, batted .366 with a .504 on-base percentage. If you're not a baseball fan, let me put this is the simplest way I can - those stats are the definition of perfection. Reaching base 50% of the time at any level whether as a team or individual player is CRAZY.

And with just 6 games left in the season, there's a real chance that the Pilots could end up undefeated.
