These new regulations will help pets find fur-ever homes, and we're happy about it.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards recently put pen to paper on legislation that would set regulations on Louisiana animal shelters that will overall increase the likeliness they are picked up and taken in by amazing families. Every now and then, our government simply gets something right, and that's always nice to see.

This new law places restrictions on how and when animals can be sent to a research facility. Once returned to the facility, the new laws will increase the likeliness of the animals finding a great home. The law also eliminates automatic euthanizing, for the sake of research. In other words, these Louisiana pets will not be put down just for research, instead they will have every opportunity to find a home.

The law also levies a fine of $1,000 to shelters that don't follow the rules and guidelines.

Geaux pets, and geaux Gov. John Bel!
