Maybe it's because the approaching summer always reminds me of those carefree days as a kid when there was no school and the only thing I had to remember was to be home by the time the streetlights came on, but I seem to be waxing nostalgic a lot lately.

Like most kids, I loved movies.  There was this old movie theater in my childhood home of Abilene, Texas, where you could go and watch movies all day for just $5.00.  I don't even remember the name of it, and it was really old then, so I'm sure it's been torn down by now.  Anyway, I'd beg my mom to take me, and she'd let me ask a buddy along, and then she'd drop us off for the afternoon.  Hey, sometimes the summers in Abilene were so hot, just staying inside in the AC was fun.

Nowadays if you want to take the kids out to see the latest family-friendly movie, it'll take half your paycheck to buy tickets and then get everybody some popcorn and a drink.

This summer Cinemark is once again turning back the clock with their Summer Movie Clubhouse. Starting next week, you can take the whole family to see some great kid-friendly films for just $1 per person. It's happening at 10am every Monday-Thursday through July at the Cinemark Tinseltown at 8400 Millicent Way in Shreveport.  And even better, children of all ages can see all ten movies for just $5.00 with a special series card.
