The man behind one of the all-time great weekend anthems has died.

Johnny Kemp, who had a Top Ten hit in 1988 with "Just Got Paid", was found dead Thursday morning in Jamaica. No cause of death was announced, but authorities say that his body was found floating off a beach in Montego Bay.

Authorities say that Kemp, 55, was scheduled to to perform on a cruise ship for The Tom Joyner Morning Show, and a rep for cruise organizer Reach Media said that the death did not occur onboard the ship.

"We have received confirmation that Johnny Kemp has passed away. We do not have any other details. We can confirm he was not on the ship for the Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage Cruise," Reach said.

N'Sync member Chris Kirkpatrick, whose group recorded a version of "Just Got Paid", tweeted, "Rip Johnny Kemp. Thank you for the great music… #JustGotPaid."
