5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Move to Downtown Shreveport

Whenever I Share That I Live in Downtown Shreveport, Several People Gasp.

I realize that so many people have these preconceived notions on what life in Downtown Shreveport is like. Downtown Shreveport isn't dead, in fact it is alive and well.

There is never a shortage of fun things to do in Shreveport. I love the hotter months because I can walk down to Festival Plaza and enjoy all the festivals and the Farmer's Market. I have always wanted a touch of the city life, so I moved to downtown Shreveport. What I don't understand is why more people don't give downtown Shreveport a shot.

The big reasons people won't move to downtown Shreveport.

There is Nothing to Eat in Downtown Shreveport.

We wish we had some good eateries like Blind Tiger and Abby Singer's Bistro at the Robinson. We wish we had access to delicious pizza from Pop N Pizza and some delicious Asian food from places like Bon Asian Cafe.

There is Nowhere to Walk Your Dog.

My dog Olive and I never have anywhere to go. There are no murals or well kept sidewalks to walk throughout downtown. There are no trash bins to throw away dog waste.

There is Never Anything to Do in Downtown Shreveport.

There are never any epic festivals that take over downtown like Prize Fest, Mudbug Madness, Cork Wine Festival, and Red River Revel.

The Arts are Dead in Downtown Shreveport.

We don't have epic historical venues like The Strand Theatre. We don't have a place to go enjoy movies like the Robinson Film Center and there are no art galleries like Artspace that feature different artists regularly.

The Night Life is Dead in Downtown Shreveport.

We don't have bars like Nobel Savage providing live music nightly. We don't have unique bars like Fatty Arbuckle's with the most vast Bourbon collection in the Ark-La-Tex accompanied by Ghost Ramen for the late night eats.
