Bossier Senior Celebrates the Big 101
The Blake of Bossier City is an assisted living community that always tries to keep their residents happy and last year they asked for help from the community. Do you remember when there was a huge call out for birthday cards for a very special senior? A certain resident just wanted some birthday cards for her birthday, The Blake was on a mission to make her day, and the staff called on their friends and family to send mail to reach the goal of 100 cards by her 100th birthday. Bossier celebrated pulling it off. Betty got her 100 cards and then some.
You can see above where the cards came from, keep in mind this count was from before the community got involved. Mrs.Betty celebrated her 101st birthday at the Blake on October 24th with her closest friends and family.
Meet Betty, or Feisty Betty as Some Call Her
A staff member at the Blake described her as “a feisty funny lady, with a sweet smile. Betty always has the employees laughing”. Betty has seen Shreveport-Bossier change right before her eyes. She went to Byrd High School and after high school she attended LSU Betty was very involved in the community and loved to volunteer she was also a member of Junior League.
One thing Betty still loves is receiving mail and reading it. So what would make her day? A letter from you. We do know that Betty’s favorite color is Emerald Green. Why not send Mrs.Betty a card for her 101st birthday?
