Chimp Haven is home to over 300 chimps on 200 acres of beautiful, forested sanctuary. Chimp Haven is a non-profit sanctuary for chimpanzees retired from laboratory research. The gorgeous sanctuary is located in Eddie D. Jones Nature Park in Keithville, Louisiana, just a short drive from Shreveport.

"Chimp Crazy" Came Out and Had Us All Obsessed With Chimps Overnight

The same director from "Tiger King", Eric Goode, has done it again, this time with Chimps. "Chimp Crazy" is Goode's follow-up to "Tiger King" and this man ruined us all. We had to wait until Sunday nights for new episodes to drop. "Chimp Crazy" centers on exotic animal broker Tonia Haddix, the retired Hollywood chimp Tonka she claims to love more than her children, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the activist group which has pursued a lengthy legal effort to have the primate sent to an approved sanctuary. An approved sanctuary just like we have right here in our very own backyard, Chimp Haven, in fact several of us hoped that some of the seized chimps featured on "Chimp Crazy" would end up here in Northwest Louisiana.

Chimp Haven Addressed "Chimp Crazy" By Reminding Us How Important it is to Prohibit the Ability to Privately Own a Chimp.

Chimp Haven took to their Facebook to say, "HBO's 'Chimp Crazy' highlights the urgent need to prohibit the private possession of chimps and other nonhuman primates. Here are just a few reasons why chimps don't make suitable pets." Since the release of the HBO hit show, several residents from the Ark-La-Tex have been eager to be up close to chimps.
