Geek’d Con: The Smarter Investment. (Seriously, These 5 Amazon Products Cost More & Do Less!)
Over halfway through the year, a lot of us are feeling fatigued with work and stress as we look and see the Holiday season still so far away. But here in Shreveport, we're gifted with a holiday in August that celebrates everything pop culture. Geek'd Con turns ten this year, and to celebrate, we found five Amazon products you could blow your money on that cost way more than a Geek'd Con ticket.
Why Buy These Products When Geek'd Con Tickets Are Cheaper?
Geek'd Con X will be a three-day event starting on Friday, August 22nd. Tickets are either for a single day each at different prices per day, or just a flat rate of $70 before taxes and fees for a weekend pass. Saturday is $55, Sunday is $30, and Friday (vendor night only) is only $20. Before you get antsy about pulling out your wallet on tickets, remind yourself you could be wasting your hard-earned cash on this stuff, too.
For only $109.99 (plus delivery), you can get these Outdoor Pillows Waterproof 80x80 Set of 4 Animal Throw Pillow Covers Linen, well said Amazon seller Tgllzzcc (seriously, that's the seller's username).
Despite what the picture and confusing name might suggest, these are not pillows, but rather covers with a cute bunny design, for a price tag worth more than a full weekend pass to Geek'd Con X.

Caught up in the Labubu craze? Check out this 14k gold and Moissanite diamond-studded Labubu medallion for a meager $399.99, that's only about 5 times more than a weekend pass for Geek'd Con X.
Maybe some home renovations are in your near future when you see this next one. The iconic Elkay EZS8 EZ Wall Mounted Drinking Fountain with Water Cooler. If you've been in almost any public building over the last 20 years, you've probably had at least a sip from this exact model of drinking fountain, and now it can be yours for only $655.40 on Amazon.
If you need a new mug, we cannot recommend buying this mug, especially when I could probably find this next one at Goodwill for less than a dollar. Here we have a $265.86 Burger King mug available on Amazon right now with a $40 shipping cost. The shipping cost alone is already more than a Sunday pass to Geek'd Con.
This last one is more confusing than any on the list so far. Each item thus far has some sort of excuse for its high cost, but this one is unexplainable. Check out the Nike Men's Hyper Elite Crew Socks in the volt-grey design, and then wonder why they cost $135.58. No, it's not a bulk pack of socks, at least the listing doesn't mention anything about how many socks you get at all.
There's only one image on the listing, and they only show one sock in the image. Does this mean I'm supposed to only get one left-foot sock for $135? Either way, I'm not finding out because I'd rather get Geek'd Con X tickets.
