There are new environmental regulations from the Biden Administration that will force many Louisianans to throw out their trusted home appliances. But this won't just be affecting the Bayou State, the change is coming for every American.

How Did We Miss This Big Announcement?

The announcement was made on a Friday before a holiday. The last thing on our mind on Friday, December 29th are new environmental rules from the Biden Administration. We were all busy planning New Year festivities. The Biden administration announced stricter energy efficiency standards for homes. These standards are specifically for residential refrigerators, freezers, and refrigerator-freezers, federal officials claim this will help curb carbon emissions.

According to Fox News, the Department of Energy (DOE) said that this "will eliminate 420 million metric tons of "dangerous carbon dioxide emissions" over the next three decades and save households and businesses $5 billion a year on utility bills."

This Change Won't Happen Overnight.

Don't throw out your fridge just yet, these standards for refrigerators and freezers will take effect within the next five years. So you still have time to take advantage of those freezers and refrigerators.
